Reward yourself with a vacation at Jamul Haven
where there's always something to do or nothing to do at all !
Jamul Haven was built during the 1890's as a farmhouse, surrounded by over 150 acres of olive groves. In fact, these olives were the first to be commercially processed in the United States. In the early 1900s the property served as a stage coach stop for a weekly stage delivering supplies and passengers from San Diego to Jamul, just prior to World War II it operated as a home for wayward boys sent to work on the farms, and then for over fifty years as private lodging until purchased by Marianne and William.
They fell in love with it at first sight, and have spent the past three years restoring
the buildings to their original beauty and landscaping the six acre estate with spectacular pool, waterfall and more than 1,000
feet of English garden pathways.
"Impressive" describes every aspect of this renovation. Capturing the local culture was their main goal and Jamul Haven is truly a delight. However you define the perfect stay, this is the kind of home in which we would most want to live - cozy and serene.
"....this is a place of exquisite natural beauty, where the heart sings and the spirit is refreshed by clear mountain air and bright sun...."
Upon your arrival at the inn, Marianne and William will welcome you graciously and courteously, with kind words and thoughtful gestures. Prepare yourself for the aroma of Marianne's famous cookies wafting from the kitchen. Your hosts truly know the difference between service and personal attention.
The lodging itself is beautifully restored, and the attention to detail in decor and ambiance is wonderful. Cleanliness, linen choices, amenities, the comfort of your bed, bathrooms....are just what you would expect at the finest world-class hotels. Each of the four gracious rooms has its own unique theme - Peacock - Celtic - Asian - Rose - and all are located in the Angel House, a fully restored 1890 Victorian mansion complete with museum quality antiques.
During the hospitality hour there is an open bar where guests feel welcome and rejuvenated. Without a doubt the real highlight is the gourmet breakfast served either in the dining-room or during summer months out doors in the pool house where one can enjoy the sumptuous buffet, your choice of entrée, and the views of the well groomed grounds. Marianne, William, John & Glenda (the assistant innkeepers) all enjoy socializing and spending time with the guests, and as they all gather at the table family style the conversation begins instantly. What a wonderful way it is to start the day!
The most difficult thing will be to choose between doing nothing at all ... or making the reasonably short drive to the popular tourist attractions of the San Diego area. The choice is yours. Have a great day !
Note : You will want to know that earlier in his life, William flew carrier based jets in the U.S. Navy for many years. He may give you some good specialist advice should you like to learn how to land on the short runway of an aircraft carrier and certainly encourage you to visit the USS Midway now located downtown in San Diego at Navy Pier. No carrier has the history or the crew to match "Midway Magic", with a 47-year odyssey that spanned the end of WWII and Desert Storm. William has also recently been appointed Producing Director at the American International Theatre, a non-profit organization dedicated to the idea that theater can be both entertaining and educational.
