Mais DEYA ou DEIA (selon que vous soyez ou non Catalan?)c'est "une perle de Majorque" (selon les chroniques de parti pris, mais à lire, dont seul Philippe Couderc a le secret!).......

Hotel Es Molí - un hotel diferente en una Mallorca inédita. Donde la naturaleza se expresa sin limitación alguna. En la falda de una montaña mágica, junto a Deiá, un pequeño pueblo irrepetible tanto por su armonía arquitectónica como por la concentración de artistas que tradicionalmente lo habitan. Es Molí es un hotel de primera categoría; 87 habitaciones encantadoras dominando la montaña y el mar y unos espléndidos jardines donde reina una piscina climatizada de agua de manantial. Hay pista de tenis y transporte gratuito desde el hotel hasta una recogida cala que dispone de duchas y cafetería. La cocina es internacional, con platos regionales. ~ View from the Hotel to the Village of Deia ~

Van Inca naar deze kust namen we de weg door de bergen - beslist niet de snelste maar wel de mooiste verbinding. Je kijkt je ogen uit naar de woeste toppen en diepe kloven. Na twee uur bereik je het stadje Sóller, waar een leerling van Gaudí de voorgevel van de kerk - en het bankgebouw ernaast - voor zijn rekening nam.

De haven Port de Sóller is erg toeristich, maar wij slaan af naar Deià, wel het Mallorcaanse Saint-Tropez genoemd maar veel intiemer. Robert Graves, schrijver van de Claudius-cyclus (ooit door de BBC verfilmd), woonde en stierf er. Wij gaan hier naar het hotel Es Molí, een grote opzet met 86 kamers en een overwegend Engels publiek. Volgens manager Angel Fernandez hoor je rond het riante zwembad doorgaans alleen het ritselen van The Times, hoewel we er meer tabloids zagen.

Chez Suske
We kunnen u zeer het belendende gastronomische restaurant "Ca'n Quet" aanraden, ook uitgebaat door het hotel. "Ca'n" betekent zo ongeveer "chez" en Quet is de verkleinvorm van Frasquito, dus zeg maar : Chez Suske.

Aan het zwembad kan's middags ook gegeten worden en beneden aan de zee heeft het hotel nog een eigen strand met elegante snackbar. Een bus pendelt heen en weer. De Kamers en de service zijn onberispelijk. Fernandez spreekt vloeiend Frans, omdat hij een hotelschool in Lausanne bezocht. De Food & Beverage Manager Juan Ymbernón, die 15 jaar in Hiltonhotels in Nederland werkzaam was, spreekt onze taal als zijn eigen. Het hotel is zeven maanden per jaar (van april tot oktober) geopend en 50% van de gasten is al eerder gekomen. Dat zegt wel iets. Het personeel werkt er gemiddeld circa 12 jaar. Dat zegt ook iets.

De gebruikelijke excursie vanuit Deià gaat naar Valldemossa, waar de vrijgevochten Franse schrijfster George Sand en Frédéric Chopin in 1838-1839 een moeilijke winter doorbrachten in het kartuizerklooster. Dat Klooster was kort tevoren door de staat onteigend en men kon er de cellen huren. Het was er koud in de winter en de Mallorcanen ontvingen dit artistieke stel ook nogal koud.
George Sand (dit jaar herdenkt maar 200-jarige geboortedag) zei dus niet veel goeds van het eiland in "Un Hiver à Majorque". Maar als je de juiste plekjes kiest, is het er lang niet slecht....
