~ The Best Kept Hidden Rural Retreat ~

The Old Rectory Bed and Breakfast Basingstoke

The Old Rectory bed and breakfast Basingstoke is a Grade II listed building dating in part to The Doomsday Book (11th century) with Queen Anne & Victorian additions. Set in 25 acres of parkland and surrounded by farmland in the tiny hamlet of Tunworth near Basingstoke, it was the home of Colonel The Honourable Julian Berry, Commander of the Horse Guards ("The Blues") who is commemorated in a stained-glass window at the nearby All Saints' Church.

Nowadays this small hidden rural gem is the family home of your hosts Caroline (Colonel Berry's daughter) and Jeremy who lived in France for many years. After retiring from their London catering business they decided to share their passion for fine food with their world wide guests, offering them to discover and enjoy the true English country house experience. Their B&B is a rare mixture of a cool and chic boutique country guest house situated in a peaceful and picturesque part of the county and still very much a family house furnished to a very high standard with lovely pictures, Adam fireplaces and a large collection of Art and Steuben Glass, the American tradition in crystal.

The few bedrooms - all with either a private or ensuite bathroom and TV - are beautifully decorated and extremely comfortable.

The Old Rectory bed and breakfast Basingstoke is not only the perfect house to enjoy oneself for a weekend, to celebrate an elegant wedding, an anniversary, a graduation or a jubilee and where conferences or business meetings can be arranged for people weary of impersonal mega-hotels. It is also ideally located for visiting the many areas of historical interest, including the charming Georgian village of Odiham, Winchester, Alton (Jane Austen's house Museum), Eton, Windsor and of course Highclere, one of England's most beautiful Victorian Castles.

A bed and breakfast Basingstoke like this is becoming more and more rare as years go by just come and stay ... you'll be elated !
